Under the Skin
Director: Jonathan Glazer
Producer: Nick Wechler, James Wilson
Cast: Scarlett Johansson
We first posted this article back in December 2012 as one of our films to watch for 2013. The anticipated release date was pushed into 2014 and finally released in the UK on the 14th March. We have periodically updated the article from 2012 to date.
Under the Skin is based on the novel by Michael Faber about an alien who trawls Scotland for Human Flesh. The film is directed by the magnificent Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast) and this is first feature film since 2004’s Birth, with Nicole Kidman.
The shooting script was dense with description and sparse on dialogue, which is in-keeping with Glazer’s often breathtaking visuals. His long-time collaborator, Daniel Landin is back behind the camera. As with all of Jonathan Glazers and Dan Landin’s work, it looks distinctive and impressive. Trailer below
The story is of an Alien being that is sent to earth in order to harvest male human flesh, which is considered a delicacy on her own planet. Based on the satirical book by Michael Faber, the lead role is played by Scarlet Johansson, who lures in her prey with the intention of serving them for dinner.
A NEW TRAILER has been released (below)

The film was shot in Glencoe, Scotland at the beginning of 2012 and it’s fair to say not all of the locals appreciated the presence of a film crew. Click here to watch an STV news report with a familiar complaint...
