High-end TV Skills Fund: NI Production Secretary Programme
High-end TV Skills Fund: NI Production Secretary Programme
Are you a talented and driven administration or logistics worker in Northern Ireland?
The booming high-end TV industry needs people like you to train as Production Secretaries, so to help you get your foot in the door ScreenSkills has launched a free Training & Placement programme supported by the ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund with contributions from UK high-end TV productions and delivered by callsheet.co.uk
Some of the world’s favourite dramas including Line of Duty, Derry Girls & Game of Thrones have been shot across the Country in recent years and more are in the pipeline all the time. Thanks to a boom in demand from streaming services and tax credits for high-end shows, we need more talent to join the industry – particularly if you have experience in logistics, event planning and organization.
On this Training and Placement course, 6 successful candidates will be walked through a 4-step programme including four full days’ training with renowned production manager Imogen Gay. Three of those participants will get a paid placement with a production for up to 15 weeks. Plus, they will be issued with a copy of Imogen’s industry-standard production guidebook.
You will need to be an ace organiser, a quick learner, a brilliant communicator and a master of Excel. You might currently be working in a logistical or administrative role in another industry: you could be a logistics manager, a travel coordinator or a tour manager or you may work in theatre or events production. You’ll also need to live within commuting distance of Belfast. If you are hard-working, calm, diligent and good in a crisis, then the industry needs your skills.
What does a Production Secretary do?
They are a crucial part of the dynamic, hard-working team who make sure the production office runs like a Rolls-Royce engine.
Production secretaries typically work under a Line Producer, Production Manager, Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator, with a production runner and PA in support of the whole team – but teams vary in size and scale depending on the scale and budget of the show. It’s the perfect starting point to transfer your skills while you find your feet in this fast-paced environment.
